Jonathan Chu Lo

Lead Solutions Engineer @ Shopify

I'm a Lead Solutions Engineer at Shopify, working with enterprise brands across Spain and Portugal. I help merchants navigate everything from platform architecture to API integrations — translating complex technical possibilities into real business outcomes.

I grew up in a Chinese household, studied Business in Montreal, and now call Barcelona home. I'm passionate about product design, co-founded a startup to help entrepreneurs find local suppliers, and I'm always tinkering — whether it's learning Mandarin, building side projects, or finding the best cafés in town.

Wuwana Logo

My interest in tech started with the Wuwana project. The objective was to help individuals find local suppliers.

The problem

Many suppliers do not have strong SEO strategies, making it difficult for them to rank high on search engines and attract potential customers. As a result, it can be difficult for aspiring entrepreneurs to find suppliers that offer the right products and services, at the right prices and with the right quality standards.

The idea

A modern directory that scrapes the online content of a brand and classify them for easy finding. The end goal was to create the Alibaba for the western world.

What we did

  1. Conducted UX research and interviews with small merchants and key stakeholders from PME MTL and Made in Montreal.
  2. Earned selection to participate in the Citizen Bootcamp 2021 cohort, a startup accelerator program funded by Citi Bank.
  3. Developed a working prototype as a proof of concept.
